During the last couple of months we have started a number of new Oniqua Analytics Suite implementations and upgrades. This includes two exciting new projects for the rollout of OAS across very large, multi-business unit, multi-timezone enterprises for Mining and Oil & Gas clients.
Oniqua Analytic Suite new upgrades
These upgrades provide some very important enhancements that improve system availability and usability. The upgrades have been developed as Service Packs for easy installation. They are Service Pack 3 of Version 6.2 which was released on 31st July 2008 and Service Pack 4 which completed development on 30 September and which is due for general release in December 2008.
Service Pack 3 contains major enhancements to the Periodic Update process which refreshes and enriches the OAS datamart (database) using data from the ERP systems or data-warehouse, typically on a monthly basis.
Firstly there has been a major performance gain in the running of the Periodic Update (PU) process with run time reduced to less than 50% compared with previous versions. This is particularly important for large, multi-time zone organizations.
Secondly new capability have been developed for use whilst a PU process is in progress:
- Groups that are out at the time the PU process runs are automatically handled and after the process completes the groups can optionally be refreshed with newly available data. This removes the need to return or delete groups prior to running a PU. This makes it much easier for the OAS Administrator.
- OAS can continue to be used whilst a PU is in progress but with some restrictions. This is a great help for inventory controllers and other OAS Workbench users.
Thirdly, additional data validation has been added to the start of the PU process to identify inconsistencies and anomalies prior to the process running. These are:
- Validation that correct date range parameters have been used to extract the correct incremental data from the ERP or datawarehouse.
- Validation to ensure that the data extracted from the ERP or datawarehouse is complete and in particular that there are no missing data tables.
Fourthly, further automation has been added to the PU process:
- The process can be scheduled to run automatically every period based on date or event triggers; you can use your preferred scheduler.
Service Pack 3 also contains several other improvements such as:
- Additional data lineage information about data fields
- Improved menu functionality based on permissions and context including the addition of tooltip help
- Significant performance gains on applying the cost model across groups
- Provision of better validation test information to help key users define Autotasks in the Rules Engine.
- Easier to use features for assigning data sets to organizational nodes in a multi-level (company, business unit, site, sub-site) corporate hierarchy.
- Inclusion of solutions for twenty-five client and consultant generated Product Change Requests.
Service Pack 4 of OAS Version 6.2 contains further enhancements such as a new Audit Trail Logging facility; improved run-time performance of standard OAS SAP Connectors; new consultant toolbox operations to manage data validation; and a database upgrade utility for applying system upgrades.
All new Oniqua web-based Standards Dictionary
The Oniqua Standards Dictionary, previously called ADIN under the Auslang brand, has in the past been distributed twice yearly via CD. We are pleased to announce that the Standards Dictionary has been re-developed as a web-based application to allow immediate access to the latest changes and to provide a more convenient, access anywhere, web-based user interface.
The Standards Dictionary will be demonstrated at the Oniqua Conference at the end of October. We will be looking for a limited number of foundation users to trial the new dictionary prior to general release at the end of the year. Please contact Garth on support@oniqua.com if you are interested in being an early adopter.
