Analytics Applications are the current HOT thing. (The world is finally catching up to us!)

Competing on Analytics is the new business intelligence transforming your technology from a supporting tool to a strategic weapon. Strategic Analytics requires technology, stores of data, company wide strategies and commitment at the executive level¹. The benefits lead to well managed resources, new culture, processes, skills, cost savings and data. Data being the critical element in Analytics to ensure that the right data is made available to the right person to drive business performance and optimize business processes.

Analytics is now mainstream - the most noted move in recognition of this trend is SAP's takeover of Business Objects. As noted in Press Releases from SAP, "this joining of forces aims to deliver new levels of operational intelligence and analytical insight turning insight into action, the ability to optimize decisions, and close the loop between strategy and execution."
.
What this means to you is that you can now leverage the expertise of two industry leaders in the enterprise industry software. This will be very good - not only our SAP customers but non-SAP customers can be comforted in the fact that SAP is continuing to provide ERP-agnostic BO products (and it is in their interest to do so as it is a very large part of the BO business).

More information on the merged SAP BW / BO product roadmap is being released over the next couple of months.

IQHighlights

The past few months have been tremendous at Oniqua with new solution implementations at several major Mining and Industry related organizations. Notable mentions include Newmont Mining Corporation and BlueScope Steel.

Newmont Mining Corporation has taken on board the entire integrated Oniqua Analytics Suite (Inventory, Procurement and Maintenance) after operating the Inventory and Procurement module at various mine locations. This powerful solution now provides Newmont with the tools to meet its Enterprise Analytics vision of global visibility, consistent optimization processes, the ability to reduce total cost of ownership and have a streamlined and enhanced Services Model.

BlueScope Steel will deploy Oniqua's Analytical Suite Inventory Module at Port Kembla and Western Port - this follows a successful pilot at their Glenbrook (NZ) site. The Inventory solution will be centrally located on a BlueScope server allowing information to be readily shared, benchmarked and costs distributed between sites. This solution provides the foundations for other facilities to join at a later date.

IQSolutions

Newmont Mining Corporation.
Background : - Newmont Mining Corporation was operating Oniqua's Inventory Optimizer at sites in Nevada, Peru and Indonesia. The idea of having Global Inventory Management and view across all Business Units lead to a pilot project of Oniqua's Analytics Suite Inventory Module that commenced in early 2007. The pilot created a data warehouse for input into Oniqua Analytic Suite resulting in a corporate view of the data and global reporting was a major outcome. The successful pilot led to Newmont Mining Corporation's acceptance of Oniqua Analytic Suite for implementation across all business units.

Implementation: The first step in the implementation of the global Oniqua Analytic Suite Inventory module ran in the Australian Business Unit and Newmont Asia Pacific from November 2007 and completed in February 2008. Following configuration and training a project was conducted to review equipment criticality that in turn was used to assign business impact codes across the entire Inventory. A major improvement in assisting users with their monthly review cycles has been the implementation of "standard" Work Queue tasks and site-specific instructions.
The next Business Units to come online with the global system will be Newmont Indonesia in March 2008.

Oniqua Analytic Suite - Version 6.2 General Release

Oniqua Analytic Suite Version 6.2 General Release was released on 31st December 2007. This release includes product enhancements, improvements and over forty Feature Requests submitted by Client users and consultants.

Key updates in the Analytics Workbench functions include improved performance and scalablity allowing for Enterprise Solutions with typically large volumes of data. The introduction of Workbench Nodes provides users with a view of their data split across geographical divisions. Enhancements ensure quicker browsing and summarizations of data in the group view functionality. Other updates to the Suite's tools have extended the capability of the Cost Model, Autotasks, Auto Business Impact Builder and Commodity Analysis.

Help information is more readily accessible for the user both while operating Oniqua Analytic Suite and also via standalone reference manuals. The Periodic Update log files now give additional information for the prompt resolution of support issues and easier troubleshooting.

All in all, version 6.2 sees some fantastic new functionality and is already making headway in several organizations on improving their business processes and performance. Don't miss out! Call us for more details!
